Inside this Edition:
The Best Prices for Selling Your Solar Power
Changes Coming to BER Scale From Late May
What Strength EV Charger Should You Get?
Tens of thousands of homes are getting solar panels every year. See how much you can save with a quote from Ireland’s top installers - check their prices now.
Who Offers the Best Prices for Your Unused Solar Power?
As long as the solar panels on your home are connected to the electricity grid you can make money off them. Any power they generate that you don’t use gets exported back to the grid.
Your electricity provider will pay you automatically for all of that exported power. But different electricity providers offer different prices, so which is the best?
The price that they offer is paid per unit of electricity (kWh) which is exported from your solar panels to the grid. This is the same as the way you are charged for the electricity you use.
The current feed-in tariff prices offered by Ireland’s electricity suppliers in order of value are:
Pinergy: 25c
Community Power: 20c
Electric Ireland: 19.5c
SSE Airtricity: 19.5c
Bord Gais: 18.5c
Energia: 18.5c
Flogas: 18.5c
Prepay Power: 15.89c
Yuno Energy: 15.89c
If you’re wondering what this is worth, the average home in Ireland could earn anywhere between €360 and €570 in a year from that. That’s a pretty big incentive to switch around if you have a lot of solar panels on your home.
