Solar Power Smashes 2024 Records Five Months Early
The total amount of grid-scale solar power produced in 2024 was eclipsed already this year in July, as the sector continues to grow by leaps and bounds.
Eirgrid data shows that by the end of July, 753 Gigawatt hours (GWh) of solar energy had been supplied to the grid, far ahead of the 659 GWh supplied for the whole of 2024.
In August, nearly 5% of all electricity came from solar power, while renewables as a whole accounted for almost 35% of power supplied.

What are Standing Charges? - Fixed Fees on Your Energy Bill
Your gas and electricity bill contains multiple fees, adding up to the total amount you owe. Aside from your electricity usage itself, one of the larger fees you may notice on the bill is the Standing Charge.
In our guide, we explain what this fixed fee is, what it’s for, and what you can expect to pay.
