Save Money on Electricity Bills with Home Battery Storage
A solar battery storage system can help you to save money on your electricity bills, regardless of whether or not you have solar panels.
The average home with solar panels could save over €200 every year with a solar battery. And that’s just by using extra solar power in the evening.
By charging you battery at night from the grid and using it in the morning, you can save even more every day!
Ireland Reaches Over 1GW of Grid Scale Solar Power Output
Solar power is continuing to smash records as we head into the summer, with a new peak output of well over 1GW from grid scale solar achieved for the first time.
Last week Eirgrid recorded a peak output from solar power exceeding 1 gigawatt of electricity, enough to power half a million homes. This exceeds the records already set in March this year.

On Monday, April 20 a new all time record of 1,021MW of solar electricity was generated. This was exceeded just a few days later on Friday, April 24 when Eirgrid recorded peak output of 1,087MW from solar farms.
The following day yet another all time record was set when a peak of 1,133MW of solar electricity output was recorded.
This is an incredible improvement on the same period in 2025. For comparison, March 2025 saw a peak of around 750MW, while May that year reached a peak of 755MW.
"The 1 GW milestone recorded by the National Control Centre represents continued progress in integrating renewable energy onto the system, and managing the very complex and technical task of balancing different forms of renewable and conventional generation on the system to ensure we meet national demand. “
Understanding Different Charging Cables for Electric Vehicles
If you’ve only ever driven a petrol or diesel car, then refuelling has always been simple. But one big difference in electric cars is the different types of charging cables there are.
The connector for an EV charging cable, and the socket on the car, can differ for a number of reasons.
Whether you are using a fast or slow charger, what country the car is from, and how old it is could all affect what type of charger connector you need.
We hope that you found this week’s article interesting and informative. If you want to keep learning about the latest technologies driving Ireland’s green transformation, then keep reading. Until the next edition.
